So I have been out of the build scene for long enough now I am finding myself racking my head when looking at new parts. I was honestly looking at AMD to start because I have always been a huge fan of it however one thing that is getting me is the lack of ddr4 and with the fact that I use a lot of photoshop and cpu based applications. I am still a heavy gamer so I want kind of the best of both worlds hints looking at intel at this point I however have run into that same question many of us have had time and time again every build.

What chipset should i use what socket should I use a never ending question when anyone talks builds. I am torn between getting a 9 series chipset because its going to give me more options at lower prices but at the same time I kind of want to get a 1151 socket because its going to future proof the system for upgrades later which again moves me to the 100 series chipset.

I am not only having issues deciding on all this but I am having issues deciding which motherboard to even CONSIDER which is just driving me up the wall. I was considering the asus z170-a originally however I have really moved away from that as an option while I REALLY like most of its options I find myself bumping my head when I look at it against boards like the sabertooth z170 mark 1 but then I run into yet another issue the ram.

I was going from a planned 3333 to a 2400 thats not really sitting well with me I hate how limit the board is when it comes to memory options so now I am going balls to the wall and looking at the maximus vii extreme board by asus. Give me an okay selection of memory options while giving me enough options to be happy.

That all being said what motherboards do you guys think I should be looking at and is the 1151 socket worth it at the current moment or should I camp out a little longer?

I would think this should fit your needs quite nicely and fall well within your ideal budget. This rig is a powerhouse, but let me know what you think and we can go from there. Everything from your CPU to high OC'able RAM is taken into account. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/9xDVkL
What's your budget? I professionally build computers, like many others on these forums and the easiest way to figure out what you "SHOULD" get is to build the best machine within the constraints of your budget and then figure out what you want to add or take out. It seems like you will be doing some gaming and some other CPU intensive tasks. If you can give me an ideal budget it will be a lot easier to assist you.

Im not too worried about a budget all that much I mean granted I wont be spending 1000 bucks on a cpu but I am expecting the build to be around 2000 to 3000 bucks. Though if need be I will spend more if I felt it was needed. Most of the parts are going to be bought over a few months not all at once. :)

Yeah was looking at that CPU without a doubt was considering the corsair ax1500i for a psu love the titanium cert the things fan doesnt even turn on till around 400watts XD though i am not so sure on that mobo I remember looking at it and it had a load of latency issues didnt seem like a very stable board. As for the 850 pro I have heard a lot of good things about it though I was considering the sandisk extreme pro 240gig just cuz it has a 10 year warrenty and has better performance reviews whats your take on that so far good choice on the 980 too was already going with that. 😛 750ti I have doesnt cut the cake anymore.

Most of the issues that were stated with the ASUS ROG mobo were rare and/or fixed with BIOS updates. There's plenty of options, that's just what I recommend from past builds. The PSU you mentioned is a massive overkill, but I won't stop you from getting it haha. 850 Pro is the SSD to get hands down. The warranty is nice, but you will most likely replace the SSD before it ever fails.

K didnt know they pushed a bio update to solve the issue thats good to know I was thinking about going cheap and just getting evga gtx 980 super clocked rather than going with the 980 ti what are ur thoughts on that granted I lose a bit of memory but it save nearly 200 bucks i can dump some other place.

No problem glad to have helped. The Ti is the cream of the crop. I would rather see you get less RAM than go from a Ti to a 980 unless you're gaming at 1920x1080p. If you're gaming at 1080p. You will save the 200$ as you mentioned as it won't really be used :)
