Have only owned pre-built. Current PC is 12 year old HP that I've upgraded with SSD, RAM and video card but starting to do some video editing (Cyberlink PowerDirector) and its limitations are showing. Thinking about building a PC to handle basic video and general business applications. Came up with the following as a potential build under $1200 and would appreciate opinions/suggestions (including vs another pre-built):

AMD - Ryzen 5 1600 3.2GHz 6-Core Processor $193
Gigabyte - GA-AB350-GAMING 3 ATX AM4 Motherboard 97
G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory 188
Samsung - 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive 149
Western Digital - Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Hard Drive 44
EVGA - GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB ACX 2.0 Video Card 155
Phanteks - Enthoo Pro ATX Full Tower Case 100
EVGA - SuperNOVA NEX 650W 80+ Gold ATX Power Supply 70
Asus - DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer 16
Microsoft - Windows 10 Pro OEM 64-bit 136

Total $1,148

Thanks.

comments:

1. 1700 is better with 2 more cores
2. ram can be cheaper
3. psu can be lower and better
4. Case can be cheaper

Thanks for the suggestions. You're alternative has a few adjustments that gets me a better processor at close to the same cost.
