I have been considering getting the Striker Extreme MB.

My question is regarding Ram, I understand that PC6400 (ddr2 800) is the tops for this board.

1) I would like to do some minor overclocking (never OC'd ram before)
2) I want to be a little future proof... so I don’t want to buy pc8500 when 1333 MHZ FSB processors start kicken around.

Would I be better off buying PC8500? if I were to buy pc8500 is there something I have to do before it functions.. Or just plug it in like the normal pc6400?

With that said... what about pc10000?

Any Suggestions on which RAM (pc8500+) runs nice in the Striker?

Thanks much.

Striker is a 680i mobo so that means that it should support 1200MHz SLI Ready (EPP) memory.
However, it also has an unlinked memory mode where you can run the RAM at a certain speed irrespective of CPU bus speed.

As for PC8500 (DDR2 1066) & 1333MHz CPUs - the 1333 CPUs in fact use a 333 bus quad-pumped so even DDR2 667 @1:1 is fine at stock speeds.

PC2-8500 works nicely on the Striker Extreme :)
