Hey folks, i have no idea if this is the place to ask but ima give it a go!

Im thinking about upgrading my CPU from AMD Ryzen 5 5600x to a AMD Ryzen 9 5900x.

Current PC specs is:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
GPU: INNO3D GEFORCE RTX 3080 ICHILL X4 LHR
Motherboard: ASUS TUF GAMING X570-PLUS
RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury 32GB (2-KIT) DDR4 3600MHz CL17
PSU: corsair RM 750 Gold

All in all, my only question is, since i bought this as a prebuild, and i have no idea if the upgrade is worth it for performance at all. But, is it worth it for me, to upgrade from the 5600x to the 5900x cpu, or no?

Thanks in advance for your reply!

AMD Ryzen 5900X owns 12 cores and 24 threads.

AMD Ryzen 5600X owns 6 cores and 12 threads.

Lets compare that two CPU and their test results.

I prefer GeekBench results of this CPU's.

AMD Ryzen 5900x GeekBench results:
Single core:1669.
Multi core:13947.

AMD Ryzen 5600x GeekBench results:
Single core:1614.
Multi core:8154.

So according to results that two CPU owns similar single core score but when we start talking about multi core AMD Ryzen 5900x smashes 5600x.

So if you have interest with productivty like editing videos or streaming its good upgrade idea. But 2 CPU owns very similar single core scores so if you want better gaming performance I think you should buy AMD Ryzen x3D series. They have massive cahce and gaming performance.

Okay, so you would say i should rather buy the
AMD AM4 Ryzen 7 5800X3D CPU
For example?

You think i would get increased performance gaming wise with this, over the 5600x? Anyone agree ?

Thanks again for the replys!

I think the upgrade would be worth it with games like BF2042(128 man modes especially) but other than extremely heavy cpu intesive games you won't gain significant amount of fps. If you got money to spare and you are an enthusiast, you might go for it either way.
