Hello,
I'm running 8gb of sodimm ddr4 at 2133mhz on a 5 year old Alienware M17. Memory has become an issue, and I start getting scratch disk warnings in photoshop. Task manager shows it using 5.4gb just to run background tasks and the browser. This is a problem since I often run PS, AI, and ID parallel, as well as Solidworks and Fusion 360. Solidworks gives me memory warnings even if I have nothing else open.
Is it possible to optimize the 8gb I have? Or smarter to just upgrade to more?
As long as It's so-dimm dd4 RAM, can you upgrade to whatever amount of RAM you want? Like can my somewhat older laptop handle or utilize 64gb of ram if I wanted it? I haven't spent much time with hardware in years so I'd like to sort this out before I throw money at new RAM sticks.
I'd be thankful for any help.
