I have installed a new 128 GB SSD in a refurbished mid 2010 Macbook (unibody). This is the third time I have downloaded MacOS Sierra and followed instructions and made a bootable USB on a blank 64GB USB. However when I try to install the MacOS in the new SSD (which is formatted with MacOS partition) I get the message that the installation media is damaged. Kindly help me to resolve this problem.

Solution
Have you checked the USB stick you are using?

Try another stick and/or try the stick in another machine.

Or better still, throw the ancient Mac in the skip and buy a real computer!! :)
