Hey,
Thanks for answering, I appreciate it. Can be very hard to find support sometimes. From my understanding and I am no expert, I have the 60gb version that has the actual ps2 like processor inside so it's basically like I have a mini ps2 inside so firmware wouldn't affect it. I could be wrong about firmware not affecting it though. I'm willing to consider everything. Some guy on Ebay though is selling refurbiahed ones that explicitly states that his has firmware 3.55 on it and will not accept for return one that has upgraded thefirmware. So that makes me think there may be something more. I'm not too sure how I could revert to earlier firmware though but I'll look. This system however says the system is up to date though with version 4.80 I believe. Going to try option 5 now in safe mode because I saw it mentioned online somewhere that if it gets stuck in a file corrupted/rebuild loop this is the thing to do. I don't have anything to back up so I'm not worried.
5 minutes later. For some reason choosing option 5 from the safe mode didn't work and all it did was restore the default settings..strange. However, choosing system restore under system settings in the dashboard did work and it says it will take about 3.5 hours. I don't mind additional troubleshooting.
I dont want to play ps2 games on my ps2, I want to play them on this, don't suggest just forgetting the thing and buying a ps2. I know my preferences and options better than you might think.
4 hours later after system restore finished. Still wont play ps2 games and I tried using component cables and the same thing. Some guy posted this on the playstation forums but I cant understand how it would apply to me and why so many seem to think this. I mean, you can still download ps2 games and play them.
