ive built my first pc a few months ago and for a while ive been getting lots of blue screens when gaming. lighter games like minecraft or l4d2 i havent had any problems running but heavier games will result in a blue screen after a few minutes with errors about nvlddmkm.sys or video tdr failure. also when my pc boots back up the gpu drivers get an error code and my screen resolution gets locked to 800x600, though i think i consistently fix it by reconnecting the pcie cable to my gpu but im still testing that out. one weird case is in risk of rain 2, after less than a minute in game the screen will get flashed in some colored lights right before crashing. i dont know if thats a separate issue though because its only happened in that game.
i have no idea what the problem is because im fairly certain its not the drivers thats the issue. ive tried updating and reinstalling them and even reinstalling windows but nothing works. maybe my parts just arent capable of handling most games? i bought most of my pc parts used so maybe thats a factor. the only things i bought new were the cpu cooler, hdd, and psu. any help is appreciated.
