I've been having issues with keeping a solid connection to my WiFi for a while now and can't figure out the problem. I've tried 2 different wireless networking cards and both have worked terribly and i'm now using a usb wifi adapter because it's the only thing that works. I'm the only person in my house that has this problem so I know it's not the router and my pc is actually the closest to it so there's nothing to interfere with it. I'm thinking there's a problem with my motherboard as i've had problems with random usb devices disconnecting for no reason but i don't know how to run a test to see if there's some malfunction. Anyone know how I can test to get down to what's causing the problem?

Specs:

Motherboard: ASRock Fatal1ty Gaming Fatal1ty Z97 Killer
CPU: i704790k
RAM: 16GB DDR3 2400MHz
PSU: 850w Corsair RMx
GPU: Sapphire 580 nitro

Solution
It might be a situation where the motherboard drivers have become corrupt over time. You can download the motherboard drivers below. The same goes with the motherboard BIOS. You can download the latest BIOS version below as well.

You didn't specify the NIC WiFi card. But you can download and update the drivers from the manufacturer website.

If those do not fix the issue, you can try reinstalling the operating system after updating the drivers.

And if all else fails you can purchase either ethernet cable to connect to the router LAN or purchase a Powerline adapter to do so.

Yes, even made sure the motherboard didn't need an update to support the adapters

I think i'm going to have to go with the powerline I had been looking into them for awhile and its definitely a better option than continuing to use unreliable wifi
