Constant FPS spikes in Rust

I've been getting hard 2 - 3 second freezes whenever running around or getting into PVP, and it impacts my ability to play severely, as it happens very frequently. I've tried using optimisation 'client.cfg' configs with custom settings, and still had no luck. I haven't been able to figure out my issue, nor have I seen anyone with the exact same issue as me. My Rust is installed on an SSD, my computers specs should be out of the question (i7 8700K, GTX 1070, 16GB RAM). I've tried lowering all my settings, tried verifying game files and reinstalling, and I've even reset my OS completely, and I've had no luck. Could anyone help me?

Rust is horribly optimized. Everybody has lags and spikes with that game. Google it, you'll see. There are entire discussions dedicated to that factoid.
