Question Constant game crashing

Hi.. Every time I play a game I see my cpu temp sitting at around 80c and spiking to about 85+. I am not sure if this would cause a crash in games but it has happened with multiple games, including Assassin's Creed and COD MW2. Any ideas if the issue could be the temp or is there something else I should be checking?

This is what I have..
AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 ghz 6 core
Cooler Master Hyper 212 cooler
MSI B550 Tomahawk board
Gigabyte RTX 3070 LHR
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16gb RAM
Crucial P1 1tb M.2-2280 drive
Corsair 850 watt psu

are you using stock cpu cooler? try to buy any aftermarket cpu cooler.
also, dont put too much thermal paste too.

Nope I'm using a cooler master cpu cooler

Both are updated... just tried a game and temps are more stable, in the 60s.

Could that have been the issue? Seems to simple.

You have to make sure that you tighten the cooler properly to make solid contact with the CPU itself. What thermal compound did you use between the CPU and cooler?

I do not recall.. its been about a year. Do you think it's worth removing the cooler and reseating it with better paste?

Sure, it couldn't hurt. You could then verify tightening enough.

I think it's finally good. Played one multi-player match of COD and cpu never went above 65c
