Question Constant green screen crashes whilst gaming ?

Hi all, I'm at my wits end, like the tile says, I get green screen crashes when I game; no error message, just a bright, green full screen, nothing works and need to hit the reset button to restart. The crash can happen 2 minutes in or 2 hours in, depending on the game, but it will happen at some point. Event viewer only shows a WHEA error Fatal Hardware Error - id1, level 2. All my components pass all and every stress test I could get my hands on, OCCT, Prime, Aida, furmark, memtest. All my components run cool and never get anywhere close to overheating under load. My components are:

Specs
MB: ASRock Z690 Taichi
CPU: i5 13600k
GPU: Rx 7900XTX
RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum 64GB (4x16)
PSU: Corsair HX1200w Platinum
SDD: WD Black 2TB, Lexar 780 4TB
AIO: Lian Li Galahad II

What I have tried:

• DDU graphics driver and clean reinstall, rollback driver, reseating GPU. Tried GPU in another rig, runs flawlessly.
• Upgrading, downgrading BIOS, swapping between all 3 available power profile (default,
• Intel baseline, Performance), I'm currently on the first Microcode bios from that whole Intel fiasco - 0.25 I think, for no particular reason.
• XMP on\off, with 4 sticks and only 2. Increasing VVD, VDDQ and PMIC unchained.

I'll be more than grateful for any solution, tips or even hints what the issue might be. It's driving me absolutely nuts and I don't know what to do anymore.

You're advised to flash the BIOS to the latest version, then clear the CMOS. In order to do the latter, disconnect from the wall and display, then remove the CMOS battery, press and hold down the power button for 30 seconds to drain any residual power, then replace the battery after 30mins.

I'll give that ago, thank you. Do you know why or how this could be causing the issue?

I had the same issue with my RX 7800 XT. For me the crashes got less frequent after undervolting the GPU, but they eventually returned. They were totally random, and I couldn't replicate them with Furmark, etc. The only thing that solved the problem was a new GPU.

So my guess is you probably need to RMA that 7900XTX.

I can only guess. There are a lot of people on the AMD forums with a similar issue, and for some replacing the PSU helped, so maybe a power management issue (especially since UV seemed to help for a bit)? That said, your PSU shouldn't be causing any issues. My other guess is faulty VRAM, since for me the crashes only happened in games that used over 5gb or so. Plus, Furmark barely uses VRAM, and it didn't crash.

But either way, I'd say the GPU is 99% the culprit in case of green screen crashes.
