So I've just moved to uni and had to buy a new wireless card for my PC. It works fine for everything apart from games as I get lag spikes that make them unplayable online. I'm normally getting 30 ping but it keeps spiking and I think it's on my end not the Unis end as the WiFi is VERY fast.

Speed isn't the only thing. In fact, I don't even think total bandwidth affects ping, but I could be wrong. Anyways, try and make sure it has the most clear path to the router and you should check the signal strength. Are you using 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz? Are you using a wifi channel that other routers are not using. How good of a wifi adapter do you have?

I Don't think I can even get access to Uni WiFi's Router. I dont know If I can change channel or if im on 2.4 or 5ghz. The WiFi adapter I do have is one of these. http://www.novocomputers.co.uk/products/tp-link-tl-wn881nd-300mbps-pcie-express-internal-wireless-n-adapter?utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=googlepla&variant=24252840135

it looks like you're stuck with 2.4Ghz with that card since it is a more of a budget card. The only other thing is making sure that your router is on a different channel then the others. Other then that I don't think there is much you can do.

Best seller on amazon https://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-450Mbps-Wireless-Express-TL-WDN4800/dp/B007GMPZ0A. My friend has this and he never complained about ping issues

For now though I want to see if I can get this working properly, as not EVERYONE is having the same issues and some can play games just fine.

Do you have any idea what could be causing the card to cause constant lag spikes???

I don't sorry about that. I don't use WIFI because its too unreliable for me at least, but I don't think you have that option.

Could be. I don't see why else it would be giving you issues

It's a windows 10 issue with the Card TP-Link hasn't updated their driver since 2013 for this model. Well that's incredibly stupid considering how widely used Win10 is and unless I can find some kind of fix I'll be getting a refund on this.

I would just go with a refund while you can. I mean you did pay for it and it should work out of the box. I would not count on finding a fix since only the company who made it really updates there drivers.
