Constant micro pause all video and games

Nvidia GTX 970 micro pause twice per second like a clock on all games, video, desktop.

Fresh windows 8.1 install

Installed old video driver that I know worked before

Never had a problem until about 5 months ago

It still could be a driver issue. Try using this DDU tool to remove all of the old drivers from the registry. Then install the new drivers.

No good. Same thing. Also, when it’s just the basic windows driver, it does not do it. It only does this after the Nvidia driver is installed. Try and imagine clapping your hands 2 time a second in a perfect beat. These tiny pauses last about as long as the clap and are in perfect beat, like a clock. This all just started happening all of a sudden. No new installs no changes.

Roll back to a different driver. Since it is not an issue with the basic windows driver, there may be an issue with that specific driver on your system.

Have you cleaned your PC of dust? I remember having random slow downs long ago it was due to dust build up.

Check temps and make sure all the fans are running as they should.

Wouldn't hurt to try Windows 10 it might fix the issue.
