I have a client working from his home pc connecting remotely to his work pc using gotomypc.

He is experiencing momentary connection drops every 15 minutes or so which has been going on for more than a year.

How can I determine whether its something on his home pc / connection or something on the office end?

Are there any programs I can use to test weak connections?

Also, no one here at the office is experiencing these problems from their home pc or their office pc's.

I am assuming it is something on his home end, probably his ISP, faulty router, bad cable, or defective NIC. ***he used to have outages, which the ISP came and fixed, or he says. But I believe maybe they didn't fix everything.

I see a very small chance it could be some sort of driver incompatibility or NIC issue with his office computer but I am more certain it is something on his home end.

Suggestions?

Hello,

If your client has admin rights use command mode to do some pings, run tracert, pingplotter, IPERF, pingpath - there are others. You may want to try them yourself beforehand and then direct him to use what seems most applicable and useful from your viewpoint. Then he just sends you the results for further analysis by you.

Could take a few tries especially with intermittent problems. However a weak connection might show up as a delay somewhere within his network.

You could maybe do some pings back to his pc and his office site as well. Especially if multiple devices are available to ping. If all respond within expectations except his home pc, for example, then you have support for your belief that the problem is on his end.
