Contact list not responding

When i go to my contacts, it say not responding. Please help me fix this issue.

Which app? and do you have lot of contacts? How old is the computer?

what do you mean which app? Are you referring to the windows live mail version I'm using? It's 2011 windows 7, my computer is about 4 yrs old
