Contents changed abnormally

Samsung M3 External hard drive keeps posting message that 'contents changed abnormally' and asking me to proceed with corrections if I wish - nothing happens! Can't get rid of it!
Driving me crazy. Anyone any ideas?

I have tried running the Seagate tool, but it doesn't list my external drive, only the internal one (which also happens to be a Seagate drive). How do I get it to recognise the Samsung?
