Hi Tom's Hardware, so I am in the process of upgrading my pc but I am torn between several options so hopefully one of you fine gentlemen might be able to help.

My current build is:

i3 cpu
Gigabyte GA-H110M Mbd Skt 1151
8GB DDR4 memory
Asus R9-380 2GB PCIE graphics card

And I recently got some prices:

Gigabyte AB350-Gaming 3 ATX AM4 DDR4 Motherboard $190 + GST
AMD Ryzen 5 1600 Hexa Core AM4 with Wraith Stealth 95W cooler $340 + GST
AMD Ryzen 5 1600X Hexa Core AM4 No Fan $440 + GST
AMD Ryzen 7 1700 8 Core AM4 with Wraith Spire 95W cooler $490 + GST

But what I am really torn as I'm not sure if I really need to upgrade my mobo, is my Gigabyte GA-H110M a reasonable board and will it handle overclocking without wigging out? Is there anything about it that would necessitate buying a new one or is there a big selling point for the B350 ? I really like the sound of the B350 but not sure if I should wait and get the 1700 or get it and the 1600, my end goal is going to be the 1700 anyway as it has i7ish performance without the i7 price tag.

Anyway any advice would be massively appreciated.

if your focus is gaming here, the 1600/1600x is good enough. It can OC just as well as the 1700/X. The draw back here, with all Ryzen boards, is memory choices. AMD is still updating AGESA micro code, through BIOS updates. Check the motherboards QVL list to verify the memory you want is on that list or you may have trouble clocking your ram correctly.
