Continuous beeping after new RAM (old RAM won't work anymore)

Okay, I have searched a lot, and this seem like a memory problem, but still if you guys find something that can be the issue, please tell before I call the guy.

So I was working with 2 GB RAM with Asus M5A78L-M LX V2, it was fine, but slow, so I got a new RAM stick, 4 GB Transcend : http://www.flipkart.com/transcend-ddr3-1333-ddr3-4-gb-pc-dram-jm1333kln-4g/p/itmd2rypzczsv8e7?pid=RAMD2RYPSWYFFUSM

When I installed it (only the 4 GB stick), the PC won't boot and beep sound, not a single one, now I removed the new 4 GB stick and tried with the old 2 GB stick, now it won't boot even with it.

After that I removed the CMOS and inserted it again, now when I tried booting my PC, it will continuously beep, 3 beeps in continuation. After that I tried pretty much everything, tried both sticks on both slots, removing CMOS then booting and everything else.

What could be the problem, the PC was working perfectly fine.

Please help me out.

(A little back story, I previously had 2 sticks, one 2 GB dolgix 1333 and another was a Kingston 4 GB 1333, the 4 GB was causing issue and it died, hopefully this mismatch didn't cause any permanent issue to the motherboard.)

Edit: I also tried the jumper to reset, when it was set CLEAR and the RAM was there, it didn't boot and there was no beep, but when I set it back to NORMAL and boot again, with new RAM, then the beep continues.

Something like this:

beep-beep-beep---slight gap---beep-beep-beep

Edit: This is the sound that used to come when there was no RAM stick installed and I tried to boot.

well this is a failure in the first 64 KB of system memory (RAM) which is why it is normal that you get the same beeps when no memory sticks are inserted. If this is happening with any sticks inserted then it is most likely the motherboard. (Sadly)

Is there anyway I can confirm that this is a Motherboard failure?

BTW, When I try to boot with JUMPER set to CLEAR, RAM or no RAM it doesn't give any beep sound, also no boot, hope that info can help.

try the 2nd or 3rd technique: http://www.wikihow.com/Reset-Your-BIOS (very important to turn off the power supply and discharge the capacitors)

then replace the jumper back to the 1st and 2nd pin and reconnect the power.

At this point you can try with other ram stick that you are sure 100% that it is working but due to the historical RAM failures you had with this system over time, I think there might be something wrong with your motherboard.

All right will try this, just for note though, my motherboard manual says that to reset the CMOS, I should put the JUMPER on 2-3 pins and then power on, does the method described in the link applicable to all the motherboards? As what I have been doing by following the manual didn't work, will try the link's method now, hope it works.

Hi,

So I tried it, in the following steps.

1. Put the JUMPER to CLR.
2. Press the power button for 15 seconds, with the plug removed.
3. Then I also removed the CMOS and put the JUMPER to NORMAL and did Step 2.

Then I tried the old RAM stick, again same issue.

Also the three beeps are, 1 Long Beep and 2 Short Beeps, which I check are usually caused by Video Cards, but I have an integrated card, not sure I harmed that, if I did that is.

your right, 1 Long Beep and 2 Short Beeps really sounds like the intergrated GPU chip went bad on your board but that doesnt mean all hope is gone. If there is a way you could get your hands on a PCIe GPU card to test, then you could connect it to the PCIe 16x slot.

If you connect a PCIe GPU card then you should get a post and you should be able to access the BIOS and set it as the main display adapter.

If this is not working and no matter what RAM you are using is not working as well, then your board must have gone bad. The onboard GPU uses the RAM as its own and if somehow the connection between the two broke, then there is no way its going to work.
