I put in a new hard drive and have been repeatedly tring to install a clean xp
i install xp , after it is successful shuts down it goes to beginning of set up again, will not go to the window. can you advise me

What method for installation are you using? Boot from disc, flash drive, network, etc. The method that you use might reveal why you're not able to make it past install.

When it restarts, what comes up? Do you see anything on the screen?

Check the boot order in the BIOS. Make sure the hard drive is listed as the 2nd boot device (1st boot device is CD/DVD drive when installing). If all the other boot devices are disabled, it won't be able to boot off the hard drive when it restarts.

I hope you aren't following the screen instruction "hit any key etc" at that stage or it will just start again. Once it's loaded files to your hard disk, it's ready to work in there and continue setting up.
