Hello. I've been upgraded my old system and i'm getting several different issues after cpu upgrade.

Here is my old system specifications
Asus P5B motherboard
Core 2 Duo E6700
Radeon x1600
2gb 667 Mhz DDR2 memory
500gb 7200rpm HDD
Everest ATX-400W PSU

I replaced x1600 with r7 240, put 4x2gb 800mhz kingston ddr2 memories and removed the old one. Added 2 pieces of 120mm fans and system was working on windows 10 nicely. Then i wanted to upgrade my cpu and ordered a xeon e5450, modded for 775.

When i got my new cpu, i opened up and cleaned all my system, put e5450 and applied thermal compound. Powered up the system, flashed modded bios via asus ezflash. Loaded bios defaults after then. System booted well, i checked with aida64, everything looked fine then pc started to restart, i checked temperatures with aida, it was about 40 C idle, 60 C max with 100% usage. I even tested for 10 mins with system stability test. I used it about 5-6 hours smoothly then system restarted and started to give various errors. Different bsod's every time, restarting at windows logo etc.

Here is what i did to find out the problem

-Reset CMOS battery, didnt work
-Flash modded bios again, a few times, didnt work
-Removed 3 of rams, left only one slot, tried all rams seperately with that one slot, didnt work
-Tried all rams seperately with second slot now, still didnt work so i decided its not rams
-Tried with different and working HDD (my laptop's hdd) plugged to my system, it didn't work
Tried that different HDD with another sata cable, didnt work. Tried with another molex cable, didn't work
- Installed clean windows 10, didn't work

***Last part, i removed that xeon e5450 and replaced my old e6700 dual core to at least get my old but working system, guess what? Fans spin and lights on after i power up but no beep! system shuts down after 3-5 secs and thats all.

Should i request a refund for e5450? So i don't know what to do, what to think now. I'm out of ideas, i turned into a neanderthal. I appreciate any help. Thanks

Hello there, first please go to "Click Here"

Go to download page and scroll down.

Download "WhoCrashed 6.01" , Install and Run analysis, it should tell you deeper info why its crashed.

Also it would good if u Install "WhySoSlow 1.00" and run it to check if anything is causing strange behaviour.

This is always the first procedure to diagnose if problem is System Error or pc components fault. 😉

Hello. Thanks for your answers. Here's what i've done since i post this thread:

-I don't know if it matters or not but i was getting restarts with less frequency when i removed the ram in 4th slot but i guess it doesn't mean anything

-I replaced bios battery with a new one. Unplugged psu, removed old battery, placed new one after waiting 5-10 mins. Then i get into bios and load defaults. System booted. Now i havent got any restarts yet (for about an hour). I'll install the ram i removed back.

@EvooHD I'm gonna download those programs you said right now.

@rgd1101 I did it after your post. Flashed original, official bios but then cpu temperature raised to 95-97 C without booting. I got cpu overheating warning post and get to the bios, launch hardware monitor from bios and saw that cpu is around 97 C idle. Then i reset cmos and flashed modded bios again. Checked cpu temperature in bios, it was around 70-73 C idle. Then i replaced bios battery with new one as i wrote above, loaded default bios settings. Checked cpu temperatures with aida64 and made system stability test, stressed the cpu. Aida64 says it's 48-50 C idle, and when i start a system stability test, it goes above 80-83 C after 1,5 mins and throttling starts. I clearly remember i was getting 67-68 C maximum after 5-6 mins at 100%. Temp is the only problem now i guess?

My writing might be messed up forgive my grammar. English is not my nature langauge

Update: I ran both of those programs.

This is what i get when i wait for 10 mins, doing nothing (cpu at 20-30% load probably). The values of kernel and app were normal when i opened it.

Right after i take these screenshots, screen gone black, just cursor was showing. Then cursor was gone too. Monitor acted like pc is shutdown (black screen, just power light winks)

Update 2: Temperature problem looks solved. Cpu cooler heatsink's one plastic screw was loose so it was not completely touching i guess. I made it kiss completely and idle temp dropped to 50-55C from 80C in 5 secs.

Although restarting problem persists. I suspected my windows and downloaded brand new iso, it doesn't work. It restarts even in windows setup.

I unplugged reset button's pin from motherboard

I tried with a 300w psu from another working system. Problem persists. It's just restarting

I guess i tried everything. So whats left? motherboard issue?

Update 3
I did memtest with all rams installed

This thing became a riddle for me that I'm unable to solve

I noticed that those random restarts become more often when i'm trying to install graphic driver for my r7 240, i suspected gpu.

-- I put my r7 240 to a known working system and system failed to boot, no beeps

-- I took that working system's gpu (geforce 7300 le) and put it to my system, system booted but still random restarts (with less frequency)

--I suspected psu, I replaced my psu with that working system's psu, still random restarts

If its gpu fail, the other working gpu should've worked properly but random restarts persisted with less frequency

If its pci express slot fail, then my gpu should've worked on other working system but it didnt

If its psu fail, then my system should've worked without problem with other working system's psu

Although no answers, i wanted to write this so maybe some day people living the same problem find this thread and benefit
