Control Panels Issue

Just had this problem show up the past few days.
Have XP with SP2 and all windows updates to the OS as of Sept 13th.

When I am in the control panels in classic view all option are available
such as phone and modem options, windows firewall, etc.

If I switch to category view and go to for example Printers and Faxes, the
phone and modem option no longer appears in the bottom of the screen, it did
a few days ago. Another example, in the security center category view at the
bottom of the screen under manage settings for, I had a few days ago internet
options, automatic updates and windows firewall, now all gone.

Any possible ideas?
