Controller and LED question

I am almost done with my build. I am trying to get the fans together and put in the computer. This is where my question comes from. My case can hold 8 120mm fans. I have a few spots on my mobo for fans but I bought bitfenix spectra LED's for all the extra fans. I planned on placing the extra fans on a BitFenix Hydra controller. Is there anyway to do this so all 7 fan LED's are controlled by the switch on the Hydra. Can I daisy chain the LED's to do this or what do you suggest?

I know the controller will support all the fans, even if I hooked them all into one channel on the controller. I believe it is 30W per channel. My problem is the LEDs. I know you can daisy fans so am not worried about them. The fans also have a separate 2 pin connector for controlling the LEDs. I need to know if I can daisy chain these also like I can the fans on this controller. If so, where can I get the parts to do this.

Yes, I believe that is it. I am visually impaired, so can not get a real good look at the picture, but it looks like the right one. It has a 2 pin LED lead and a 3 pin fan lead. The Hydra has 5 fan and 5 LED ports so do I have to get another controller even though 6 of the fans are in sets of two on side, top, and front so they would be ideal to daisy chain together as pairs.

Connecting the longer 2 wire extension cable that comes with the fan to one of the LED male connectors on the Hydra will allow you to turn the fan's LEDs on or off independent of the fans themselves. In that case, you would not use the shorter 'jumper' provided w/fan.

But if you want to do this with more than the 5 fans that the controller can handle, I don't know how you would do it in a practical manner. I suppose you could pair up a couple fans' 3 wire connectors with a splitter, but I don't know if they sell a 2 wire splitter for the Bitfenix 2 wire connector. Try the 5 fan/LED setup first and see how you like it. You may be able to physically splice the wires of 2 LEDs into one connector.

That is getting to the heart of my problem. If I am gathering this correctly, you are basically saying I will either have to make my own splitter or damage the fans in a way I would rather not do. To control more than 5 LED's I would need another controller, even though I do not need it for the fans. I guess my best bet will be to just not hook up a few of the LED's because I do not want the blue LED's on at all times which is the only thing I can do if I hook up the LED's to the power directly.

You wouldn't have to damage the fans. You could use something like this to parallel 2 of fans so they can plug into one Hydr connector:

For the LEDs, you'd have to splice two of these 2 pin extensions together so that it becomes two male on one end and one female on the other end that would plug into the Hydra's LED plugs:

If you just leave 2 of the fans' LED cables disconnected they will be on all the time the fan is running. Unless you remove the included jumper, which turns them off.

so all the controller is doing is connecting the circuit like the jumper is doing on the fan. The reason I ask is if this is all it is doing, I may be able to fashon a makeshift switch to do this which would help me in my mod in many ways.

OK Quick note and question. The person who was suppose to be getting me the Hydra controller for my spectre fans did not do it. Long story short, I need a controller for these fans that can turn them off like the hydra could. I will ask in another question, but thought I would ask you since you have been so helpful. Remember, I have bad vision so controllers with screens do not work well for me. Do you know any controllers that can do this?

Yes, that is the way I interpret the design of the Hydra controller. The LED switch simply allows you to power ON/OFF the LEDs. It appears to have a single button to switch ON/OFF all fans at one time.

Why can't you just order the Bitfenix controller from somewhere else?

...or has it become a discontinued model?

Solution
Yes, that is the problem. It seems that the product has become discontinued. I only purchased the fans for the on the fly light possibility. I could still get the controller when I purchased the fans. Now I am stuck with fans that have no working controller and no way to get one now. I will have to try and find a controller somewhere that can do this. Thank you for all your help.

Someone suggested a nzxt sentry mix 2 but I can not see anything that tells me if it has the capability to control the lights on the fly I have asked the question in another thread though. Thanks again.

Did you see the link I sent to the Hydra? $32 and in stock.
