Question Controlling Other CPU fans Possible after Disabling Q-Fan?

Hey all,

I've had the Corsair H100i v2 for awhile, but I lost the control USB cable and just got another one, so finally set iCUE up. So up until now, I'd just been relying on Q-Fan settings in the BIOS. Upon the re-installing iCUE, the first thing I did was make sure the pump settings were up higher, they were on Quiet. I restarted my computer, entered the BIOS and then disabled Q-Fan control. As soon as I did that, it sounded like all my fans starting going full speed. I thought, "okay, I'll just turn down the fan speed once I'm back in, in iCUE". I went back into iCUE and I of course, can only control fans connected to the H100i. Upon further investigation, I put my ear up to my case and it sounds like the very rear fan is what I'm hearing. Before, I had a custom curve setup setup on the CPU fan, so that it would kick on at 100% around 55C. So it'd be silent up until then. Now, even when I turn my Fan to quiet, and I see it drop to like 400RPM, it still sounds like my fans are on full blast.

Since I disabled Q-Fan control, do I lose control of the other fans in my case that aren't linked to the H100i v2? It's running cooler since installing iCUE and cranking the pump up up to "Extreme" vs "Quiet," so I'm happy about that. But I feel like it'd be nice to be able to turn down whatever fan is making all that noise?

unplug each case fan until you find the one that is making the noise then replace it you cannot use software to regulate fans having the H100 connected I would leave it on extreme.

That’s just what I thought, thanks! I plan on swapping the H100 for the Fractal Design Celsius S36-360 mm. My case looks like it’ll fix it and I’d like to see if I can push my frequencies up just a little more. When I do that, I’ll check which fan(s) are the loud culprits.

I have 1 in the back and two in the front of the case, which case fans do you recommend? I’ve heard the best reviews from Noctua, any in particular?

I have had problems in the past myself and replaced them with Noctua fans and although they are a bit expensive they are very much worth it I bought some Fans for H115 NF-A14 140mm Noctua but you need different but I would recommend Noctua

thanks! I’m going to first tackle the new AIO next week, then move into replacing case fans
