Convert Multiple Video files at once (.MKV)

I have about a TB of TV and Movies in various file formats that I want to put on an external drive to watch on my TV via USB. My TV only seems to be able to read .MKV files, and I would like to convert all my videos to .MKV (all at once would be great).

Does anyone know the best way to do this?

Personally I use Xilisoft Ultimate Video Converter, you simply add all the videos you want to its list, choose the output format and then you leave it running until it finishes. It also benefits from Nvidia CUDA and AMD Stream to finish faster.

Handbrake is probably the most popular. I use it to convert vids I upload to youtube. It has options to use any codec even quicksync and more options for whatever you need.

I ended up buying a $30 Media player from Amazon and using it as a medium between the TV and the TB usb Harddrive. Very Happy with this solution.
