I bought a set of speakers for my pc, (logitech z200) and an audio interface for my microphone. The speakers are wired together and I was curious if it was possible to cut the wires connecting the speakers and put RCA plugs on them to connect them into the back of my audio interface. the left speaker only has the wire connecting it to the right speaker, and the right speaker has the connecting wire, power, and a 3.5mm for connecting it to the pc.

Is this in any way possible? And if so, what exactly would I need to do?

Thanks

I was considering just buying rca speakers, but the speakers I have were a present for my wife, and the first component she bought for my computer, so even though everything else in my pc has evolved and become so much more, I can't bring myself to buy a new set of speakers. So the best solution I came up with, was to rewire them so that they can be used with my new audio set up

Not really. The left speaker needs to get power from the right speaker.
As above, just get a 3.5mm->RCA adapter.

Thank you both for your fast answers. I'll be honest, I didn't know you could buy 3.5mm to RCA adapters, but after looking on amazon, they are actually quite cheap. If I could ask a second question, is it possible to cut the wires connecting the speakers and put male to female adapters that disconnect on it so that I could run it through a hoeletter in my desk for better cable managment, like a male to female 3.5mm connector? Thanks

If you wire it properly, yes, that will work.

Since you are using an audio interface I will assume sound quality is important to you. Do you really want to throw another element into your signal chain? You would be better off buying an inexpensive set of monitors.

That said, you could try it I am sure you can find the pieces needed online.

I can sooo relate to your choice.

Good Luck!

Haha, thanks, I'm glad I'm not alone in keeping components due to sentiment haha. and thank you for picking the best answer, it's actually the first time one of my comments has been chosen, so a second thank you 😛
