I guess I'd have two questions to ask of you first.

Is having the same GPU with more GB of RAM that will make no different 90% of the time very important to you?

Would you be fine if you no longer have a working RX 580 GPU after this?

Before even getting into the nitty-gritty, you have to be sure that the answer to both of these is an emphatic yes.

AFAIK it can only be done on some early reference RX480. all model after than have the exact amount of VRAM advertised on it. 4GB have 4GB and 8GB have 8GB. RX580 is a refresh to RX480 that launch one year later with much high clock speed. there is no reference design for RX580.
