Converted before quest...

Sigh. What can I say? I like being chaotic, I like donating to
priests, I like converting their altars, and I like killing them and
getting my Z's back.

The problem is that my deity didn't want to play ball and has tossed me
over to the other team. Pre-quest. So:

Can I offend my current deity enough to ever convert back?
Is the [HoOA an option?
Can I run around on my quest home level and kill things and collect
goodies as long as I don't come within speaking distance of my quest leader?

TIA,
Thompson

No. For a long time I thought so but reading the source
confirms - At conversion time it checks if you have ever
converted before. Conversion is once only.

Not for the Quest.

If the portal even works. But without the permission of your
Quest leader forget going deeper into the Quest and getting
the bell. No bell, no amulet. You are now in a practice
game going for the top ten list not in a game that can end in
ascension.

I thought that converting pre-quest was an absolute game ending
situation. It's happened to me once, when I put on a helm on the
first level, THINKING AT THE TIME "hey, I wonder if this is a HoOA?"
And it was. So I fled. (I realize that taking off the helm would
have fixed the problem, but, I forgot that at the time. And I did NOT
want to play a lawful elf -- already ascended one of those 🙂

No, no, and IIRC yes but it doesn't help much since you're not going to
be allowed on no matter who you kill.

No. You can only convert once.

No. This does not count as a conversion. Your quest leader will not be
fooled like your god.

Sure. But what would be the point of that?

Well, I'm a rogue, and although lawful, still enjoy putting the dagger
in. I know that the rogue home and the tourist home are built from the
same map; is the rogue quest home as populated w/loot? Plus, just for
the aggravation of it all, I'm going to sterilize it. So there.

I know that this is true, but it leads to an interesting question: what
actually *does* happen if you put yourself in a position where you would
have converted back, only now it's not an option?

If you attempt to convert yourself a second time, the god treats you
as does Moloch should you sacrifice on a Gehennom altar: rejects the
sacrifice, "Suffer, infidel!", -5 to your alignment, -5 to luck, -2 to
wisdom. Furthermore, you anger your new god and get punished
(selected from the usual range of divine punishment).

I don't know. I never even converted once that I remember. I am very
careful when gods are around, watching. For some reason, I am especially
wary around her Ladyship.
