Converting a UPS to an INVERTER, As simple as swapping batteries?

Hello everyone,

I have Blue Gate 2200VA UPS which I replaced the 2 batteries recently. The new batteries don't seem to last like the ones that came out of the box.

After installing the battery, I plugged it in to power to charge up so I can see how much it can hold power. After like a half a day charge, I disconnected from power and the UPS beeps at 5 seconds interval with only my Laptop plugged in. I would be needing the UPS for a Vinyl Plotting machine which sometimes plots a vinyl for like 10 - 15 minutes which I don't think my UPS would be able to hold up.

Now, I'm thinking, if battery is the main source of it's power, can I just connect the battery cable on an INVERTER battery? Is it that easy or there are other components/parts modification that needs to be done?

Thanks.

Your UPS is already doing an "invert". I.e., using the DC output of a battery to provide AC to your computer and/or other connected devices.

The more devices connected the faster the battery's energy will diminish.

As I understand your question you wish to use the battery from some other product with your UPS. That other product being a device that also converts battery DC to some AC output.

For the most part your UPS is designed to work with the batteries provided. Trying or using another battery will probably not end well even if it does work to some extent.

My recommendation is to find a separate power source/UPS that is directly matched to the power requirements of the Vinyl Plotting machine. Especially if you need to have...
