Converting external HDD to internal

I have a spare 1 TB HDD lying around. I'm planning to build a gaming computer soon, and would love to save some money on a hard drive. I've heard that an external hard drive can be converted to an internal one. If so, how? The one I have is a Western Digital HDD. That's all I know about it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

You have to take the case apart and see what kind of sata and power connecters /ports are on the drive inside. Probably can install it internally in a comp.
