Question Converting full sized ATX to travel PC, how to avoid firmware/kernel corruption?

I plan on moving some of my PC parts into a smaller case to travel with. I wont be adding any new parts aside from the case and swapping the GPU for a smaller one. I'm afraid of firmware corruption as this has happened when I have tried transferring drives to other PC hardwares before. From what I can see, there's nothing that should cause this as im not changing any major parts and I have had my smaller GPU in this build before without problems. Anything I should look out for?
