[SOLVED] Converting Laptop Camera to USB

I clipped off the opposite end of the wire, and this is inside: https://drive.google.com/file/d/19u9Qfv-AMjYg64x1QJMHG0IrfbHf8ioF/view?usp=drivesdk

Is it possible to connect the wires in the camera’s cable to the wires inside a USB cable? Which ones would I connect?

Yes, you will need a multimeter, USB cable and soldering iron.
With the multimeter you will check each of those 4 wires to find out the ground wire, data+, data- and power wires.
Strip one end of the USB cable and solder the corresponding wires from the webcam.

If you do not have any of those items it will be less expensive to get a USB webcam, which will have higher resolution than the integrated laptop webcam.

I don’t have a multimeter, but I’m doing this for fun. I may buy one (would this work: https://www.harborfreight.com/7-function-digital-multimeter-63759.html)

I have a soldering gun, but it doesn’t melt my solder. Last time I tried, I let it “heat up” for a while and nothing changed.

You need a digital multimeter with audible continuity, so you could follow or trace the cables.

I did some research into the solder wire that was purchased (not by me), it’s melting point was 2,000° F!

Anyways, I’ve ordered some with a lower melting point.

As for the multimeter, I did some research. Labeled on my camera is a name for each of the wires that were inside the cable. The two wires in the middle were twisted around. I read that this usually means they are data wires. The other two had labels where they connected to the camera through the interface.

As well, I read about the colors in my USB cable, so I have that figured out.

As soon as that solder wire arrives I’m going to test it out. Thanks for the advice.
