Now that it time in my life to build my own ‘puter, I stumbled across tom’s page. Educated my self and sent away for some toys. Pushed a 1.3 t-bird and 1 G of 133 RAM into such a cheep Mobo that isn’t even mentioned on these esteemed pages. When the monitor flicked to life with a startup page I was estatic. I’m not even thinking of Over Clocking yet, but boy the box warms up. A lot more heat then a 333Mhz. So I’m reading a lot about coolers and such, just for fun. Tom’s water cooler looks nifty, but I started thinking of the price, and thought just for giggles I could pay that for a window air conditioner and mount it on the side of my case. A bit noisy but wow! Or just set the whole case in an apartment refrigerator?
I’ve played with peltiers – double stacked them in my pop cooler to bring the 100 F temp down. Was making serious thought about water-cooling a peltier. But using all that power, to pull heat out, the radiator, fans….
Then the LED went off in my head.
Back before most of you were born, when you went to a gas station and wanted some cold water, there was a water fountain next to the coke machine. You drilled a hole in the side of the fridge and ran the tap water through a copper coil inside….
My case is 5 foot from my Fridge – Freezer. A pump, coil, tubing and manifold should do it. Should I insulate the whole inside case to keep it from sweating? Instead of cooling just the CPU should I just keep the whole thing crispy cool with a finned radiator sitting inside with a circulating fan? With Antifreeze I could put the coil in the freezer box. Where do I stop?

Cool the CPU with the coolant, aircool everything else. Remember to use rubber tubing and insulate the top and sides of the cooler to prevent condensation.

Cast not thine pearls before the swine

thanks crashman.
But ummm. it ummmm,,,, it's just,,, it seems to simple?
BTW I was thinking of plastic tubing inside foam tube pipe insulation. what happens on the other side of the mobo from the cpu. would it need insulation?
