This cooler it will work for a msi gaming x rx 480 : Corsair Hydro Series HG10 N970 CB-9060005-WW or Corsair Hydro HG10 N780 (CB-9060002-WW) or ARCTIC Accelero Xtreme 9800

these cooler's are compatible with reference design NVidia GTX 770, GTX 780, Titan and Titan Black GPUs only. and you dont need a gpu cooler for your msi it already has 2 fans on it with great cooling. my advice keep it that way.

You dont need to swap your cooler, MSI Gaming X's have outstanding coolers from the factory boasting some of the best performance from any of the RX480 variants. Plus the 480 is not exactly a hot card when compared with its predecessors so the stock air cooler will be more than sufficient.

Also as mentioned above those coolers would not be compatible anyways.

depending what case you have some cases come with default fans beside the exhaust one. if the case has good airflow and ventilation then no need.

What are your temps? As others have said, the cooler on the Gaming X is good, no need to replace it. Also, buying an aftermarket cooler (liquid or otherwise) for a mid range card is not a good idea. For the price of gpu + cooler you probably could have just got a more powerful card.

I have this card and no matter what I do it won't even go past 70c. I ran heaven benchmark fully maxed out and temps stayed 70 and below. When I run high end games it typically sits in low to mid 60s. I wouldn't water cool it because that specific model is probably the best one that exist and has amazing cooling.

These things are made to run everyday at temps of 75-80c+. I don't like my video cards to run above 75c regularly, I use that as the mark to determine if I need to adjust my case or settings some to lower temps. Anything below that is completely fine for long term use. You can really go higher than that as well, but that's just what I do.

75 C is really not very hot for a GPU.

Also, your cooler doesn't really affect how much heat is being dumped into the room. Doesn't matter if it's at 75 C or 40 C, if your card is consuming 150 W then your cooler is going to be dissipating 150 W into the surroundings, i.e. your house.
