Cooler Master Hyper 103 on Asus X99-A. Help.

My brothers pc has been having problems with overheating(CPU is crazy hot), I cleared the dust filters and turned up the fan speeds and all is now fixed.
But tonight something wouldn't stop nagging at me so I opened up the side panel (one below the mother board) and there's no back plate installed.
So my question is, does the Hyper 103 need a back plate when installed on the Asus X99-A(socket 2011-v3)

Yeap, the cooler comes bundled with a backplate

but for the LGA2011 platform the socket has pre applied screw mounting points which accept the LGA2011 stand off's bundled with your cooler.

FYI, you might want to pass on your full system's specs and IMHO, you'd need to swap that cooler off for something more beefier like a Dark Rock Pro 3 by Be Quiet!
