The product features of Amazon.com said that this model was compatible with the FM2 socket. However I received the cooler today and it does not state anywhere that it is compatible with FM2. Aside from that it says "Copyright Symbol 2011 Cooler Master Co., Ltd. All Rights Reserved" and I'm pretty sure that the FM2 socket came out in 2012.

I have looked around and every where it is advertised as FM2 compatible but the actual box say nothing about fitting an FM2 socket

They use the same retention mechanism: AM2/AM2+/AM3/AM3+/FM1/FM2, AFAIK.
