Hello guys, i am thinking of buying the below given rig

amd fx 8320
asus m5a97 re 2.0
1tb hd
4gb corsair vengeance 1600
msi 760 gtx oc tf4 2gb

I have been suggested the cooler master thunder 600 watts.
Seasonic is not an option, as supposedly their service in quite poor in my area (New Delhi, India)
If anyone can confirm this???

Is the CM Thunder good enough, if not, then please suggest a psu in the same price range.

u haven't bought it yet? if u haven't do u have a budget? cause 400W would probably be enough for that 😛 but there i'd get a better one for sli later :) reply what budget u have though

Hi Gaijin23
the GeForce GTX 760 requires a psu with 30A on the +12v rail and a 500W PSU minimum
so i would go as you have for a 600w PSU for some headroom.
I would not Buy the thunder there are much better quallity PSU's
seasonic/xfx(also made by seasonic ) make the best PSU's , if that is not an option
i would go for a PSU from corsair in the TX , HX or AX range of power supplies

Thanks guys. My budget is Around Rs.50,000 (around $830 ), if it helps.
Any specific power supply from xfx??

hehe that doesn't help so much because we don't know what you can spend on a PSU 😛

Your GPU with use 156w at peak and your CPU will use 125w.

As far as I know there are not any XFX PSU available to you in India/flipkart, correct me if i'm wrong. There are some Seasonics available to you like the s12ii and I think that is a really good PSU as it is very reliable. (mine going strong for 3 years 20h a day :) )

But, recently I found a nice PSU available on flipkart and it's not that expensive :)

Here is a source it will work with your build

I helped with an 50,000rs budget a week or 2 ago similar to yours and I think you are close to your limit right now.
List how much your parts are so we can better help you in optimizing your computer :)

thanks guys,
amd fx 8320 - rs.10000
asus m5a97 re 2.0 - rs.6500
1tb hd - rs.3500
4gb corsair vengeance 1600 - rs.4000
msi 760 gtx oc tf4 2gb - rs.19500

i really want to buy the seasonic s12 620 watts psu, but if the service is not good, i dont wanna risk it.
Antec vp650p looks good enough.
so antec or cooler master??
sorry for so many questions, but i am a psu noob.

I'd stick with the Antec unless after you are done buying parts you still have $ to go for the s12ii 620w

It looks like you have close to 6000rs left. You need a CPU cooler for that FX 8320, they can run hot.

Either of them will do, the hyper 212 is recommended a lot though.

8gb of ram is much better to have than 4gb

2500rs more for 8gb

The 620w seasonic is 1200rs more than the antec. You could buy that if you want, it's up to you. From what I read on seasonic service there, it seems to be ok. It looks like it depends on what shop looks at it ( it seems like they have some third party centers look at it) . This is just what I've gained from a few threads and I can't verify it at all. I'm not sure how the customer service works in india 😛

I am sure of this though, going from most reliable to least:
Seasonic s12ii---->Antec vp650p----->CX600----->CM Thunder 600w

There is a good chance you won't even need to use warranty on the seasonic :) they really are best for a reason.

Wow, thanks man. that was really helpful. will go for seasonic, for sure.
Also, is this motherboard good enough for gaming. (not going to oc, but dont want a bottleneck).

No problem :)

Just so you know, your board could probably handle a slight overclock but I wouldn't risk it for that little of performance.

Your board will be fine at the stock settings for your GPU/CPU. It's actually one of the better cheap board for the 8320. Infact, that would probably be the cheapest 970 chipset board I would recommend for the 8320 from Flipkart store, if not the only good 970 board that is available there.
