I am upgrading and have a Gigabyte B360 HD3 (LGA1151/Intel/B360/ATX/USB 3.1 Gen 2 (USB3.1) Type A/DDR4/Motherboard and Intel i5-8400 processor.
I have a Cooler Master V-8 cooler that has been on an LGA 1156 i5-750 CPU and is 8 years old.
The mounting holes seem to match OK; should I try and use it for the i5-8400??

Solution
Yes you can use it they should have the same hole spacing. I would use it. It should be quieter and have to work less than the stock Intel fan.
