I am getting ready to place an order for a Evga 680i board.

But i had a question I have read quite a few places about certain CPU coolers not being able to work due to "stuff" (i am not exactly sure what is the on bottom of the board as i can not find any good pictures of the bottom of the board.) I am wanting to know if people with personal experience with the board could tell me more about it PLZ. I have a Vigor Monsoon II on my computer right now which requires a backplate so i am really worried it won't fit because the cooler works really good. Thank you everyone in advance.

I bought the Zalman 9700 because suposedly it was an easy fit with the 680i-A1 revision (less resistors or what ever on the back side of the cpu now). But still I had to file down some of the Zalman's plastic backplate to bypass 1 tiny "resistor" on the backside. Before with the older revision boards there were 4-5 things in the way though. Plastic backplate in this case is a good thing.

Buy the mobo and do any mods after you analyse the situation. Worst case you file down some NB fins, even clipping them with wire cutting plyers would work with a bonus of being cleaner. This situation doesnt need to be something you worry about, theres alot of fun to be had with modding, take this as something to look forward to.

Anyway, if you can, and you case has an upper exhaust you could rotate your hs to blow air up instead of the regular position.

Just remember any changes like clipping fins on the NorthBridge voids the warranty.
