Cooler master hyper 212 evo or Rajintek Themis?

I read mixed reviews on Themis. Techpowerup concluded it's better than 212 evo, but some others that it's bad. I don't know what to make of it, or what to get.

Insights?

I'm leaning toward 212 evo myself, as I already own 212 original from 2008 on my c2q 6600. I'm very happy with it.

However, Themis costs 1/3 less and did significantly better cooling i7 4770k on the techpowerup test.

I'm afraid to be stuck with the devil I know simply out of fear of the unknown...

Tradesman1, I just noticed you have 4770k @ 4.6 in your sig. What are you cooling it with? Could 212 evo work with that high OC?

And another thing- what do you do to OC the cpu? Simply raise the multiplier and the CPU voltage, or is there something else too? I read the reviews, but they all suppose I'm an expert at OCing Ivy bridge. I'm upgrading from core 2 quad 6600 and it was that simple back than- fsb+ cpu volt= done.

I've got the CM GTS V8, used a EVO initially as I had the V8 ordered but they weren't released yet, the EVO did fine up to about 4.4 running 24/7, with the higher OC wanted something better since I do run it 24/7....think for most the EVO would be fine up to about 4.5 in 'normal' use

So to summarize, you're getting about 70c max load temp on 4770k @ 4.5ghz with 212 evo?

I'm also interested in your motherboard selection. Why did you change so many? What were you looking for in a motherboard? Did others not OC as high?

No 😉 wasn't changing - I have a systems consultancy - among other things, also build, repair and upgrade systems, did 20 or so Haswell builds before deciding on the Hero - they were a mixture of Primarily Asus mobos along with some Rock and GB mobos - those are the only three brands I'll build on
