Cooler wont contact CPU

I just bought a Thermaltake Contac 30 CPU cooler. Everything was going fine until... following the instructions to the letter only to find that the cooler doesn't sit on the CPU. It misses it by what seems like 1/4 inch or more. I have an ASRock Extreme4 Z77 Intel socket 1155 with an i5 3570k. Has anyone got any insight into this mystery? I'm dying to get my PC back together.

That does not make any sense unless you assembled the holding brackets somehow wrong or used the wrong one.

Turns out the picture I have shows the hold down brackets incorrectly placed on the mount. A matter of screwing them on the opposite way solved the problem. Sorry for the worry. This is my first time installing a cooler. Thank you for your response.
