Coolermaster 212 evo vs. antec kuhler 620 vs. noctua NH-U12P SE2

Hello!

Which one should I get? I have planned to OC my i5 2500k first to 4 GHz and maybe beyond that later (Im new to OC:ing).

So, which one is the best of these three (coolermaster 212 evo vs. antec kuhler 620 vs. noctua NH-U12P SE2)?

From where I am going to buy the cooler the evo costs 40€, Noctua 55€ and Antec one costs 58€.

Is there something else in the same price category i should consider?

I have a coolermaster blademaster 120mm which I would use in push-pull configuration if possible with some cooler.

i5 2500k @ stock for the moment
asrock p67 pro3 se mobo
8 gb of ram
1 Tb hdd seagate
palit gtx 550 ti
nexus 700w psu
Thermaltake dokker case with 3 120mm fans

The bettr two are the Antec 620 and the Noctua. The will give you a cooling advantage of 5-7 C over the CM.

The Antec can be modded with a second fan to put it in push-pull and give you the best cooling, but the Noctua is a fine cooler.

I prefer the Antec (and have the 620 on my server and the 920 on my gamer) but any of these coolers will give fine cooling for a 4 GHz OC.

There is no simple answer to that, results can vary considerably from one CPU to another even within the same SKU. Overclocking is always a gamble against process and engineering tolerances.

The quality of the CPU is variable.
And so it the skill of the over clocker.
The motherboard's ability to support a top overclock can also be a variable.

When it gets too hot or too unstable the CPU/motherboard is telling you it's reached it's limit.

65C isn't very hot. When you get into the high 70's and low 80's then your temperatures would be too high. But since 4ghz is such a small overclock all of the coolers will suffice. However, the 212+ will save you the most money and all temperatures will be roughly the same.

How is it with the acoustics, does 212 go loud and is 620 really silent?
is the 620 much bettrr or is the 212 really that good (sorry for being a little repeative).

On my C2D-E8200, my single-fan 212+ is practically silent at 700RPM idle and remains practically silent at 800RPM under full-load with 25C ambient temperature.

You may also want to check out the new Cooler Master TPC-812. It's cheaper than the Noctua NH-D14, but up there in terms of performance according to Frostytech and knocking on the door of the Corsair H80 and H100. It's also pretty quiet and can probably get moreso with two better CFM fans in a push/pull config.

The TPC-812 is double the price of the 212+ for only 3C or 75% more expensive than the 212 EVO for 1C better performance at 125W load, not very likely to make or break many overclocks. The cost per degree improvement curve gets pretty steep after the EVO.

hey i have the 212 and i must say i am very dissapointed most people say it is as good as the antec however!
i have had both and my cpu went from being an unstable heat deamon with the hyper 212 as its only copper plated and the actual heat sync its self is not the best for heat distribution.
people saying that the hyper is good may not have had the hyper and they have only read reviews in my experience its an outdated cpu cooler that cannot really handle overclocking too well however when i got the antec 620 my temps went from 63+ with an amd fx 8120 to a stable and steady 53 and i was able to acheive a 4.5 over clock whereas with the hyper i could only get 4.0 max

dude how can you have 25 degrees under load with an air cooler spinning a fan at 800 RPM mine span at 1950-79 RPM and my temps were still roody, i have an aluminium lian li case developed for good air currents and low tems (however i cannot for the life of me remember what its called ha)

There is the 212 (old and not very good) and the 212+ (really good one people talk about)

if you had the + version it probably wasnt installed correctly.
