HI,

installed coolermaster Hyper T4 cooler as describe in manula to the a T.

boot on everything comes to life but then powers off, i went in reverse removing component after component, untill all i had was cpu and cooler and fan connected still the same. swapped ram about again no good.

what is it with cpu coolers, such a headache for such a simple thing.

I think its the connection plate on back of motherboard causing a short some how and not quite good enough for certain boards, or the metal strap that goes across the heat sink is pulling to tightly causing the cpu to bend in its socket causing it to start but because its so tight with the new metal strap over the new coolermaster heatsink pulling it down on to the board, its just fails on boot up.

I put my stock back in and it worked flawlessly no probs at all ever, very dissapointed so i gave up on it and sold it on.

does anyone have any experience like this, its seems for some cpu coolers are a knightmare, i just think its just tight on the fitting causing a slight bend on motherboard and cpu socket but its too much and causes this erractic problem, like i said stripped it down in stages got the same resulut threw and threw, some mentioned RAM, i faill to see what ram has to do with copper cooling pipes ????, anyway, i went back to liquid cooling better easier and no probs.

cpu cooles have put me off, so staying away from them. Anyway gues if you have any info i would like to hear what happend and what you did, as i work in pc,s. And this is just a head ache and im trying to nail it down as to what it is causing it.

mail back your thoughts, cheers guys and gals.

hi dude,

i just thought it could be problem, as i have known certain boards to bend and in my job it has caused them to effect how the socket connected to the cpu, after applying delicate force to rectify this and slighly ever so slightly bend it back, the pc worked fine.

It only takes a very very small amount to do this, i just gave it a possibility. I tried cleaning cup right up really took time and deinstalled cooler and bracket fully restarted install 3 times, failed everytime. On the 4 th i reinstalled stock cooler it started straight away, i thought that it could be a short some where or i had dropped a screw on the mobo or some thing i gave full check for this both sides in and out all over the case fully clean. started up worked fine on stock cooler. Strange i know, im usually ok with pc,s but this has stopped me dead in my tracks, i just like to solve the probs as well that me, i just like to know what im doing.

I then took out stock cooler and reinstalled hyper T4 again it failed, i fired the system up bascically bare bones no drives nothing fancy just powr / board / discounected all other fans. again it failed. I was like how can that be ?, so then i redirected to cabling perhaps ?, i connected to the normal cpu fan header like stock and tried on another connection and fan contoller again it failed, so im basically doing a head scratching moment, i gave it strip down again carefully checked rebuilt and again it failed, very very wierd. I went back to stock cooler worked straight off the bat - sure i have gremlins for sure LOL.

i have serached around seen soem other replies on here and other sites a few similar and a few idea,s but nothing worked, even tried my spare psue to be sure, tested with volt meter everything checked out, pins good nothing broken, no trapped partialy broken wires of any kind.

I took the fan off the heat sink and tried on my board on its own with the stock fan heat and fan, it worked. I don,t get it, its got to be the board or some thing very small, it has to be the back plate or some thing for earthing as i ran out of thoughts in the end.

Ill stick with water cooling for cpu, easier for me and no probs for my exprience level. I would like to try and find out if anyone knew of this thats all, as i would like to find root cause.

cheers.

Sounds like the answer to this problem is that the cooling fan that came with the CPU cooler is messed up. You have to realize that there is human error in everything. I worked at GM / Delphi for a while and you wouldn't believe the parts that we would get that were messed up that robots put together but a small tweak in an assembly line can throw something off like a CPU fan. Maybe when the 4 pin end was being pressed or melted onto the wires one of the wires got cut or melted through. If it worked with a different fan or no fan you should have just said something to Cooler Master and they would have sent you another. I bought the T4 and the brackets that hold the CPU cooling block to the board fit so tight on my motherboard so I filed down that little clip that bites when your locking it down so it wasn't such a pain and by filing it a little and checking now I can pop it on and off and it presses perfect. You don't want a CPU cooler to lock down with massive force and warp the board when it gets hot. But in your case it sounds like a wire got pulled slightly directly at the connection where its soldered next to the fan blades or something.
