I just built a new PC on E5-2603 which is 80W only. And the cooler is CoolerMaster Hyper T4. Core #1 (counting from 0) is often goes up to 55-60C while others stay at 30C. I dont see any difference in the Task Manager load-wise... I have two reservations here. First is that CPU was bought from some server wreck on ebay so its not new. The second is that the cooler base covers about 50% of the CPU area and it is also not symmetric (it shifted a bit further from one end to another).. Its not possible to center the cooler because how it is built (when you close the lever it will shift away).. So in fact I can see a stripe about 5mm wide of the CPU naked..

Any comments?

It could be that thermal paste might not be covering that core but the one core is always a couple of degrees hotter 4-5 degrees but not 15-20. Also check and make sure cooler is seated properly. Also when you installed the cooler did you screw it down in star pattern (diagonally) ?

I would just assume it is in the area where the CPU is naked and buy a bigger heatsink.
