Hi.
Is the original CM hyper tx3 (not evo) compatible with am4 or with coffee lake?
I've found a reddit page where a cooler list says it's compatible with am4, but the official cm page guide doesn't show it.
And what about coffee lake?
Thanks for your help.
And again: not EVO.

AM4 has completely different hole spread than any other AMD or Intel. Only coolers that categorically state that are compatible are compatible. Coolers come with mounts for several platforms. Coffee Lake is socket 1151 and all sockets starting with 1150 have same mounts.
Is it a new one in the box ?

It's an old spare cooler and we want to reuse it. I don't know where the box is.

Here's the reddit post where it is compatible:
https://www.google.hu/amp/s/amp.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/5y1xmx/am4_cpu_cooler_compatibility_list_for_the

However coolermaster's website is different:
- Flexible mountings for Intel Socket LGA 1156/1155/1150/775 and AMD Socket FM2/FM1/AM3+/AM3/AM2/940/939/754.
Tx3 evo also has am4 in this list.

And about Intel:
So, if it fits to 1150 or 1155, it will to 1151 too?

Cpu is undecided currently, something budget i3 or ryzen 3 is in target, with re-using existing stuff. Would be nice to keepthis old cooler, it's still better than any stock.

Well, if you don't have whole kit for mounting it it's highly unlikely it would fit on AM4 because it's unlike any other socket. On the other hand if it was on any 15xx Intel socket it may work. And yes mounts are same for 1150 and 1151 just g don't go choosing the platform just to suit that cooler, it's not very good one anyway.
If you go Ryzen route all new ones 2000 series comes with good coolers. From first Ryzen series, only processors with "x" at end do not come with coolers.
