Hi,

I am doing my first build and am using a CoolerMaster N400 case. On the inside, at the front, there are 10 or more wires that need to be connected somewhere. Does anyone know where I can get detailed instructions about these wires? Thanks.

Solution
The cables at the front are power, USB, reset ect which need to connected to the bottom of the motherboard. The side cables are most likely extra fans used that need to be connected to the fan headers on the motherboard.

You can check the manual of the case and the manual on the motherboard to see what needs to be connected to what.

I did find some good information in those manuals - Thank you. However, I have a problem with my first attempted connection - back case fan to motherboard at CHA-1.

The fan has three connectors, not one. Two are very large and obviously will not connect to CHA-1. I have no idea what they are for. The third one looks like it will fit CHA-1 but it has 3 female pin holes. CHA-1 has 4 male pins. The CHA-1 ground is marked but I don't see which is ground on the fan wire. Should I just throw away the 2 large connectors that came with the fan? Help, please. Thanks

The 2 big cables are a molex & a mex passthrough - these are to link the fan directly to a PSU if you don't have a motherboard fan header.

Plug the fan using the 3 pin into the cha-1 header - it will only fit in 1 way - if you have to force it in you have it the wrong way round.

I guess it's not a PWM fan. How do I tell which wire is ground? What are the large connectors for? Thanks.

I just looked at the fans in more detail: According to the specs., the fans are supposed to be the Xtra Flow model PWMs. Xtra Flow fans have 13 blades. The fans I received have 7 blades and 3 wires.

This is my next wiring issue. A little speaker came with the case to be mounted on the MB. The speaker has 2 wires (red, black). The red one has a triangle embossed near it. I assume this ground. There are 4 female pins on the connection but only the outer 2 are wired.

On the MB there is a 4 pin connection for the speaker. They are labeled as follows, left to right: +5, ground, ground, speaker. Only the outer 2 of these will be used.

In which pin should the red (ground?) wire go? Thanks.
