Hello,
I currently have a i5 Sandy and my cpu has been reaching 96c while playing games. I have had this PC for a few years now and never had this issue till now. I been told my voltage on my mobo is off. I plan on building a new PC before this one takes a dump.

My question is what would a good CPU cooler / fan that I can use on this rig and transfer over to the new rig if need be.

I plan on getting:
i7-5820K 3.3GHz 6-Core
Asus X99-PRO ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard
Corsair 750D ATX Full Tower Case

Coolers I been looking at are:
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan
or
Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler

Thanks ahead of time!

This rigs main purpose is for a heavily modded Skyrim & Streaming.

Solution
The cooler you get for a lga1155 motherboard may not fit a 2011v3 motherboard.

You might want to reconsider your plan for a 5820K.
A i7-4790K will perform better for both gaming and streaming at a lower cost.
The 5820K needs a different lga2011v3 motherboard and coolers like the hyper212 do not have the proper adapters. The H100i fits lga 2011, but I don't know about 2011v3.

The 5820k has a lower stock clock and will not oc as high as the 4790K because it has more cores.
Few games can use more than 2-3 cores.

Use the funds saved on the cpu/ram/motherboard towards a higher performing graphics card.

My canned rant on liquid cooling:

You buy a liquid cooler to be able to extract...

You should be fine with Hyper 212 Evo, only if you are not pushing the temps much higher by OCing, in higher OCing you would benefit from the H100i, last word you may find something better coz the H100i is loud.

You buy a liquid cooler to be able to extract an extra multiplier or two out of your OC.
How much do you really need?
I do not much like all in one liquid coolers when a good air cooler like a Noctua NH-D15 or phanteks can do the job just as well.
A liquid cooler will be expensive, noisy, less reliable, and will not cool any better
in a well ventilated case.
Liquid cooling is really air cooling, it just puts the heat exchange in a different place.
The orientation of the radiator will cause a problem.
If you orient it to take in cool air from the outside, you will cool the cpu better, but the hot air then circulates inside the case heating up the graphics card and motherboard.
If you orient it to exhaust(which I think is better) , then your cpu cooling will be less effective because it uses pre heated case air.
And... I have read too many tales of woe when a liquid cooler leaks.
google "H100 leak"

Your pc will be quieter, more reliable, and will be cooled equally well

For a good cooler, I suggest a noctua or Phanteks tower type cooler with two 140mm fans.

Your the second peep to say get a air cooled and 4 core.

I was looking at a 6 core because my common daily load at any given time is:
Modded Skyrim (ENB, 2-4k textures, 450+ mods, tons of scripts) It can bring the best PC's to it's knees @10-20fps outside.
Watching Twitch / Streaming
4-6 Web Tabs open
Displayfusion
Fences
Rain Meter
Bandicam / Fraps (Recording games)
Music running sometimes
Steam

My i5 has been able to run every game I throw at it, Dying Light being the latest. I have just hit a wall with scripts and speed with my Skyrim.

As to my GPU I got a Radeon HD 7950 3GB 384-bit. But not happy with AMD's lack of support with ENB's. So going with 980 8gb when they come out in march since Nvidia is what the creator of ENB based his code around. A modded Skyrim has a 4gb cap due to it being a 32bit engine, so with a ENB you can expand that with Ram and GPU size.

So do you think a 4 core will keep my daily workload flowing or stay with a 6 core?
I am open to any suggestions, this is why I posted here. Love this site for great peeps that aim to help out.

EDIT: Oh and what noctua or Phanteks do you suggest?
