Cooling duct does not fit case. Do I need an adapter?

Hello,

I recently bought a case fan duct to redirect the hot air elsewhere but the darn thing doesn't line up.

Here's what I bought:

But the holes do not line up on the case grill.

Why does the duct seem to small? It seems that these are all 80mm parts.

What's the make and model of the CPU cooler?

If the CPU cooler is meant to pull air into the CPU to cool it, this duct won't be redirecting hot air, it's just providing cool air from outside the case (I think).

Sorry I should have been more clear. This duct is for the back of the case (exhaust fan). It's going to be an exhaust duct for the case fan.

One side will be connected to the CPU cooler and one side will be connected to the exhaust fan, correct?

No, one side is connected to the back of the case and the other side doesn't connect to anything. Think of it as an exhaust pipe on a car. I'm just redirecting the hot air being blown out the back of my case with this duct work.

The cpu has nothing to do with it in this application.

Then this thing really isn't going to do much in the first place. Also, the fan is 90mm, not 80mm.

Currently my computer case is in the cabinet. The cabinet fills with hot air and this air duct will redirect the exhaust out of the cabinet instead and the computer will stop overheating.

So top attach this do I need some sort of 90mm to 80mm adapter?

Ah, then yes, it would be useful. I don't think they make adapters like that, though.
