Probably not. The mounting scheme is different on the 754 socket. You can use an Opteron heatsink and a Thermaltake fan if you want.

You cannot use the SLK800, the only thing socket754 takes from thermalright is the SLK948U.

Just to let you know, the stockcooler kicks ass, it handles 1.7Vcore perfectly(maximum recommended by AMD). Its fan speed adjusts from 2500RPM-5500RPM, if you're just into moderate overclocking, then stockcooling will be just fine.

The Thermaltake Silent Boost is a good heatsink/fan. It does a good job of cooling your CPU, while keeping the noise down. And you can get one for less than $40.

My System:

$40?! you mean canadian right? because they can be found in the US for about 20 if not less. And in canada they can be picked up a little over 30CAD.

Newegg is selling the Thermaltake Silent Boost for $29.99. Once you add shipping, it may be a little less than $40. In any event, its a good price for a good cooling heatsink.

I would still go with the Venus series because if you turn the noise levels to the same the Venus 12 will outperform the silent boost.

The stock heatsink is pretty good that comes with the a64. I have mine at stock speeds right now with temps in the 30-40 range.

Someone recommended me the ThermalTake Venus 12 which is 28,99$ on NewEGG. It's on my current wishlist. But I really don't know how it compares to Silent Boost.

What's the AMD Mobile Athlon 64 overclocking potential? It's huge! Humm... Maybe not that huge...

Check newegg's refurbished section. I've seen the thermaltake k8 venus heatsink for about $16. They also have a watercooling kit for about $76. I don't recommend water cooling unless you have alot of experience and patience. Globalwin has a silent stream water cooling rig that's very easy to use. It's $65 at ewiz.com.
