[SOLVED] Cooling in MasterBox lite 3.1

Hey guy!

I have a masterbox lite 3.1 case and I already have a system installed in it. Specs are the following:

Ryzen 5 2600

Asrock b450m pro4

Asus gtx1060 6gb

Pure power 10 500w 

Hyperx fury black 2x8gb 3200mhz ram

MasterBox lite 3.1 case



The cases fan options are limited. There is 1 rear mount for a 120mm fan and at the front theres room for 2 120mm fans or a 240mm AIO.

I have 3 options.

I buy 3 case fans and an air cooler for the processor

I buy a 240mm AIO and mount on the front as intake and i use a 120mm fan on the rear side as exhaust.

Or I buy a 120mm AIO on the rear side and put 2 120mm fans on the front side.



How would I get better temps both on processor and system side?

Don't buy any CPU cooler, and buy three case fans for ventilation. The 2600 comes with a decent stock cooler, you don't need an aftermarket cooler.

Yeah I know its decent, but its the wraith stealth and I want to overclock to 4ghz-4.1ghz. I doubt the stock cooler could handle that

Well then three case fans and a good air cooler for the CPU, an air cooler can handle 4-4.1 GHz no problem, if you buy a mid range or high end one.

Well bigger ones wont fit inside the case. I was thinking about an arctic freezer 33 esports one white cause it would also fit my setup and theme. Would it be enough?

It's not much better than the Wraith Stealth. I did some quick searching, and the Wraith Stealth can handle the 2600 at 3.9-4.0 GHz, and not make much noise still. Ryzen really doesn't need more than stock cooling, even if you plan on overclocking it.

Really? The freezer has like 3 times larger heatsink. I wouldnt expect it to have the same performance

I just searched a bit and the good coolers are the spire and prism. 3,8 ghz can be reached with the stealth but the temps will be 70-80C
4 ghz is impossible with the stealth

Well it comes down to how much noise is acceptable to you, you can turn up the fan speed and get a higher overclock but sacrifice silence of the PC, plus there is also difference in ambient temperatures - my Ryzen 5 1600 can barely hit 3.7 GHz in summers without reaching 80-90 C because the ambient temps are so high.

If you want a good stock cooler, you could try going for the 2600X then, that comes with the Spire.

If you can't change the CPU now for whatever reason, then I think the Arctic Freezer 33 is the way to go for you.
